With its debut foodie festival, Cathay spreads culinary cheer to members this holiday season

Incentives aren’t needed for people to eat, drink and be merry during the holiday season, but that hasn’t stopped Cathay from offering its members a faster way to earn Asia Miles with the Cathay Culinary Fest.

The festival, running until December 31, 2023, features a collection of partner restaurants across the city. Each restaurant offers an exclusive menu created for the occasion or special perks to add extra sparkle to a meal.

Members earn one Asia Mile for every HK$2 spent at each restaurant by presenting their membership QR code, while holders of the Standard Chartered Cathay Mastercard can get up to three Asia Miles for every HK$4 they spend.

Furthermore, the Cathay Culinary Fest is topping this by offering opportunities to score bonus Asia Miles. Members can add 1,000 Asia Miles to their account if they’ve made three transactions at the participating restaurants, and another 500 Asia Miles if they settled one of the bills using the Miles Plus Cash payment for the first time. Diners who sign up to be a Cathay member through a designated link and dine at any of the participating restaurants will get an extra 500 miles, which means new members have a chance to earn up to 2,000 bonus miles.

The participating restaurants cater to diverse tastes, offering experiences like the upscale Japanese yakiniku experience at Saburo, rooftop steakhouse Alto or a Brazilian feast at Braza. Each restaurant is committed to providing a unique experience for members. For instance, the set menu at JJJ Korean Steakhouse in Central, which includes a starter of hanwoo beef tartare, before a selection of prime cuts of premium Hanwoo, Wagyu and USDA beef cooked on the grill, JJJ beef rice, and an intriguing ginseng ice cream or makgeolli gelato for dessert. Italian restaurant Fiamma will serve a complimentary welcome drink and canapés to members dining on its black truffle menu, while the set menu at 181 Fortnum & Mason in K11 Musea features starters like chicken liver parfait, before a choice of mains including Irish salmon with a shrimp and mussel beurre blanc, and a chocolate dome to finish. On the drinks menu, the limited-edition Betsy Bellini bespoke cocktail, named after Cathay’s first aeroplane and exclusive to the Culinary Fest menu, is made with seasonal British ingredients and can be enjoyed with Fortnum’s iconic sparkling tea as a mocktail or with a glass of Prosecco Zucchetto Italian sparkling wine.

With these limited-time dining offerings and the chance to accelerate your miles balance, Cathay is spreading culinary cheer to members who are spending quality time in Hong Kong for the holidays.
