Henry Cheng runs the New World group of companies, which has interests in sectors including property, infrastructure, retail and hospitality. The son of legendary business leader Cheng Yu-tung, he is chairman and executive director of New World Development, NWS Holdings and Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group; taking over the role of chairman in 2012, after first becoming a director in 1972.

Henry Cheng was also formerly an independent non-executive director of HKR International and Hang Seng Bank. A standing committee member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, he was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 2017.

He is the father of six children, including Adrian and Sonia, who have both carved out impressive business careers for themselves: Adrian has various roles within the family company, including CEO of New World Development, while Sonia is CEO of Rosewood Hotels and is also on the board of several family companies.
