Sotheby’s Asia boss Nathan Drahi is embracing change at the venerable auction house

Still only in his mid-20s, Nathan Drahi assumed the challenging role of managing director of Sotheby’s Asia in 2021, taking over from his long-serving predecessor Kevin Ching. Drahi had previously worked in London—in private equity at alternative investment manager BC Partners and in investment banking at JP Morgan—and as a commercial officer at the auction house in Hong Kong; he will look to bring his deal-making skills from those industries to the increasingly investment-driven auction world.

The Drahi family bought the auction house when it was still a listed company in 2019 and took it private the following year.
