This November, the highly anticipated autumn chapter of Tiffany & Co.’s Blue Book 2023: Out of the Blue high jewellery collection comes to Hong Kong

One of the greatest names in haute joaillerie, Tiffany & Co. brings its brand-new Blue Book 2023: Out of the Blue collection to Hong Kong this November. Inspired by the unexplored depths of the sea, as well as the colourful creatures that inhabit this watery landscape, Blue Book 2023: Out of the Blue’s distinct themes include: shell, coral, pisces, star urchin, starfish and anemone.

Tiffany & Co.’s chief artistic officer, Nathalie Verdeille, delved into the house’s comprehensive archives ahead of putting pen to paper, so she could combine her dynamic designs with the iconic jeweller’s historic legacy. “Our collection is a dance between mimesis and stylisation, representation and figuration, realism and abstraction of nature,” she says. “These ocean-inspired masterpieces are an ode to Jean Schlumberger’s rich, creative repertoire.”

Jean Schlumberger began working with Tiffany & Co. in the mid-1950s. The self-taught artist had a preoccupation with nature—and this extended beyond the usual flora and fauna to the iridescent shades of the sea. Verdeille riffled through Schlumberger’s sketches, which the late French designer drew on ultra-fine tracing paper, before she dreamt up the unapologetically bold masterpieces that form Blue Book: Out of the Blue.

“We have created a new dreamlike language that animates what [Schlumberger] so brilliantly conceived half a century ago,” says Verdeille. Indeed, the collection’s sea urchin theme playfully epitomises one of our ocean’s most eccentric creatures. An explosive brooch is sculpted from lightweight platinum and 18-karat yellow gold, which is elaborately embellished using fistfuls of hand-carved carnelians that weigh a jaw-dropping 66 carats.

Elsewhere, an intricate pair of earrings are decorated with purplish-pink sapphires set into dramatic structures that twist and turn like coral reefs. Meanwhile, the Sea Anemone pendant envelops the neck in a dusting of diamonds, from which swings a six-carat blue elbaite tourmaline. As if that wasn’t enough, a hefty portion of turquoise is thrown in for good measure.

In an exclusive video with Tatler, Emily Lam Ho said the Sea Anemone pendant takes her breath away. The heiress and entrepreneur predicts that Tiffany & Co.’s Hong Kong event will be “an underwater paradise”—and poignantly adds: “Let our love for the ocean guide our actions as we wear these exquisite pieces with pride and purpose.”
