Whatever the occasion, celebrate it at the restaurants that are sure to leave a lasting impression

We all know that Hong Kong is home to some of Asia's, if not the world's, best restaurants. However, the sheer abundance of venues—more than 16,000, according to government data—can cause choice overload, anxiety, and in some cases poor decisions, when it comes to picking a restaurant for special occasions. Luckily, from sushi bars to French bistros, there's something for every taste and budget. Whether it’s for your other half's birthday, wedding anniversary, or the most romantic proposal, here are the best Hong Kong restaurants to celebrate at.

Arbor's exquisite Nordic-Japanese cuisine has not only earned this restaurant two Michelin stars but also a coveted place on 2022's Tatler Dining 20 list. The interior showcases a soothing palette of cream, sage, and blushing pink which is both elegant and highly Instagrammable, making it the ideal setting for the innovative fare created by Finnish chef de cuisine Eric Räty. Expect multi-course tasting menus with creative Nordic sushi, a signature pigeon dish and one of the fluffiest brioches we've ever sampled, served with savoury miso and mentaiko butter.

Estro's interior, designed by Andre Fu Studio, is as sleek as the elevated Neapolitan cuisine on the menu. Here, recipes inspired by chef Antimo Merone’s home meet sophisticated combinations and stylish plating for a delightful meal, dish after dish.

Enjoy panoramic views of Central, courtesy of Écriture's huge floor-to-ceiling windows, together with glorious French cuisine by chef Maxime Gilbert. The menu changes seasonally, but more recently, the summer menu has showcased a surprisingly lighter and brighter side to Gilbert's cuisine. The signature uni and caviar tart, however, remains on the menu for that extra dose of extravagance.

It's easy to see why Tate Dining Room is on this list. Other than being on the Tatler 20 list, the restaurant's elegant interior is flourished with tasteful elements, setting the scene for special occasions and its cuisine is just as exquisite. The restaurant is marking its tenth year in Hong Kong with an anniversary menu, so there's even more reason to celebrate.
